FAQ: Faux Palm Thatch
If I have a tin roof, can I install the Faux Palm Thatch directly on top?
Yes you can, there is no underlayment required, the thatch can be screwed directly into the tin. Please see our installation instructions for details.
If I have a traditional palm thatch structure that uses the natural palm leaves, how would I install the Faux Palm Thatch on top of an existing structure?
This depends how old your natural thatch is. If the entire thatch structure has rotted, it would be best to remove the thatch, lay plywood onto the wooden batons and attach the Faux Palm Thatch directly to the plywood. If the natural palm thatch is not in bad condition, you can remove the old top layer and lay the plywood over the thatch and install as per directions. This way you would be able to see the natural thatch from the underside.
