Synthetic Viro Thatch Palm – Subroof
Synthetic Viro Thatch Palm – Subroof is offered in Java and Bali styles. These synthetic thatch panels have also been referred to as faux thatch, fake thatch and plastic thatch. Although these terms might be true to describe the product itself, one literally needs to touch our synthetic Viro thatch palm products to realize they are not natural. A share glance you cannot tell the difference due to the variegated colors of both the natural and synthetic thatch materials. Our palm thatch panels are designed to install on an existing roof structure and will retain their lush look for years to come. Install the first panel 4” from the eave edge and the second panel 4” above the first panel. Stair-step diagonally across the roof as you install the Viro thatch roof panels, maintaining an exposure of 8”. At the hips, cut one panel in half and bend it to conform to the hip while allowing two hip courses to one field course. Fasten each panel with at least three 1 ¾” ring shank roofing nails along the raised angular tabs of the panel binder.
Please see our Viro Thatch Installation Guide for more information.
How do you install Viro thatch palm on the hips of a roof?
Insert a half to a third of a field panel in between the regular panels going up the hip. Bend the panels around the hip. This will add the extra layer under the existing hip layers to make them a little fuller. It also helps the thatch lay naturally.
How do I install Viro thatch palm on the ridge of my roof?
No special thatch roofing pieces are required to do this. Take the last panel and install it at the top of the ridge. On the other side, do the same thing so that the two thatch spines are against each other. We recommend using a half-round piece of bamboo to cover the spines.
